Recently I got many queries from MSDYN365BC developers which are having trouble connecting to the visual studio to 2019 wave 2 release. So below are the steps which will help to connect Visual studio code.
You can check my blog on Install Microsoft Dynamics Business Central on premises 2019 Wave 2 Release
So, we will start with the opening the visual studio code. Before doing the setup, I will recommend downloading the latest Al Language.
For this go to Extension (Ctrl + Shift + X) in Visual Studio Code and search for AL language and reopen Visual Studio Code.
Here we are ready for our first extension in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central on premises 2019 Wave 2 Release.
We will open the command pallet by pressing the shortcut key Ctrl+Shift+P and select AL:Go!, as soon as we hit enter it will ask us for the Folder Name and path, for my reference I am giving it MSDYN365BCWave2 you can use different Name as per your convenience and enter.
In the next step it will ask for the Target Platform, which is 4.0 Business Central 2019 wave 2, you will be getting different option for connecting to different release of Business Central.
After you select the Target platform you have to select hte Server which is Sanbox or Local Server, as we are configuring the MSDYN365BC on Prem we will select Local server Lauch.json file will be opened, which will have all the default setting if you have changed the port then you must specify the Development port of the service you have configured.
You can select authentication as “Windows” if needed.
so we have completed the setup and all set to download symbols for that go to Command Pallet (Ctrl+Shift+P) Select AL: Download Symbols. You wil get the output as all reference symbols has been downloaded.
And here you are all set to go for your first Extension.
Hope this blog will help Dynamics 365 Business Central developers to setup VsCode in MSDYN365BC Wave 2.
